The materials of the tundish shroud basically fall into two categories:
(1) Fused quartz nozzle tundish shroud.
The characteristics of this ladle shroud are: good thermal shock resistance, high mechanical strength and chemical stability, and resistance to acidic slag erosion. No need to bake before using. This kind of tundish shroud is suitable for pouring general steel types, but is not suitable for pouring steel types with high manganese content, otherwise the service life will be reduced.
(2)Aluminum carbon tundish shroud
This type of nozzle is mainly made of corundum and graphite as the main raw materials. It is characterized by strong adaptability to steel types, especially suitable for pouring special steel, and has little pollution to molten steel: the material of the nozzle can also be adjusted according to the length of pouring time and steel type, or it can be compounded with a layer of other high corrosion resistance materials to improve the service life of the nozzle.
